UPGRADE
The goals of grid operators are best served by a reliable network. Transmission line reliability, however, is adversely affected by extreme environment load such as wind, ice, lighting etc. Upgrade of existing line is performed to improve transmission line reliability. It is done by improving structural performance i.e. tower strength, foundation strength and/or by improving electrical performance ie. insulation strength, earthing system improvement etc.
SOLUTION DETAIL
PAIN POINTS
The two main pain points in the already existing infrastructure are the age of the asset and the reliability issues, with respect to structural or electrical performance.
OUR SOLUTION
6x to 12x increase in the throughput is achieved via voltage upgradation through high performance and special conductors on existing power lines in the same corridor. Monopoles and narrow base towers are also used to reduce footprint and lateral tolerances.
OUTCOME
The solutions offered by us have clearly two vital outcomes – reduction in footprint and decrease in transmission losses.
VIDEO CASE STUDY
Sterlite Power proudly partners with Kerala Govt in the Transgrid 2.0 project to bridge the shortfall in power transmission inside the state by bringing in steady and reliable power supply from outside.
The challenge was to establish capacity augmentation in an economic manner, within shortest possible time, with minimum disruption. Let’s understand how Sterlite Power’s solutions optimally enhanced voltage of Malappuram Manjeri’s ageing lines.
