OUR STRATEGY
Our strategy is focused on addressing complex challenges in the sector by tackling the key constraints of time, space and capital. The Government’s vision of 24×7 energy access to all, coupled with the rapid development of renewable generation capacity, requires transmission projects to be commissioned in a fraction of the conventional time frame, creating a time constraint. Urbanization, environment regulations and Right of Way (ROW) issues create a space constraint for power transmission projects. The scale of investment required to build transmission capacity to meet the country’s power needs is significant, creating a capital constraint.
Through our Global Infrastructure Business, we bid, design, construct, own and operate power transmission assets across multiple geographies. Our Convergence Business operates at the confluence of the power and telecom sectors. He was also the chairman of the Core Group on Transmission constituted by the CII for Fiscal 2019 and a part of the Task Force on Power Transmission constituted by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (the “FICCI”) in 2013.He has been a Director on our Board since June 1, 2016.

Ms. Pooja Somani

Ms. Pooja Somani is a seasoned finance professional with nearly two decades of experience spanning across different sectors including Metals & Mining, Power, and Auto e-commerce. She began her journey with the Vedanta Group in October 2004 and gradually climbed the corporate ladder through various positions in treasury, business development, mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance, audit & accounting, and corporate strategy. Her tenure culminated in her leadership role as the head of the Treasury function within the Vedanta Group.
During her time at Vedanta, Ms. Somani also served as a director on the Board of Talwandi Saboo Power Limited and Vedanta Star Limited, showcasing her involvement in strategic decision-making beyond her immediate responsibilities.
In February 2022, Ms. Somani transitioned to a new role as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the UAE and Australia operations of Cars24, a notable move signalling her expertise and adaptability across industries. In addition to her CFO responsibilities, she also assumed the role of Global Treasury Head within Cars24.
Ms. Somani holds bachelor of commmerce degree from University of Rajasthan and her professional credentials include being a fellow Member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Nishit Mehta

Nishit drives strategy formulation, governance and strategic initiatives at Sterlite Power. Prior to this, he set up the energy storage business at Sterlite. Nishit is passionate about clean energy with experiences across the world at multinationals such as Siemens and Exelon, in roles ranging from sales, business development, market creation to venture capital investing. In 2012, Nishit also co-founded a battery technology company: SiNode Systems (now NanoGraf Corp.). Nishit trained as an electrical engineer with a BE from the University of Pune and holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.

He has in-depth experience across nuclear, coal-based, combined cycle power plants, LNG and Oil & Gas . In the Oil & Gas industry he gained strong experience in EPC of refinery, Outfield Well Pads, Metering Stations, Sulphur recovery, Cross Country Pipeline Units & Gas Treatment Units. Prior to working with Sterlite Power, he served in leadership positions with organizations like Nuclear Power Corporation of India, Enron India, KazStroy Service & Punj Lloyd.

He has raised over $ 1.5 bn across debt and equity while working for domestic and international developers. He has overlooked the development & execution of over 1GW of projects in Renewables. Prior to joining Sterlite Power, Akshay ran the structured investment and project finance desk of Piramal Capital in infrastructure, having deployed and exited ~1 bn USD of exposure.

Neeti Wahi is the Group Chief Information Officer for Sterlite Power leading the Information Technology & Digital portfolio for the group. She has been with Sterlite Power since Oct 2019. Prior to her current position she was the CIO for Clix Capital, and before that she has led the IT Function for GE Capital India and SBI Cards. Her 20+ Years of Technology domain experience encompasses spear heading and establishing the technology setup for a start-up, as well as leading the technology function for large scale enterprises. Neeti brings with her both B2B as well as B2C technology expertise. She is a Six Sigma certified professional and holds an MBA degree from Symbiosis, Pune.
Parag Jain

Parag Jain has over 18 years of expertise in Metals, Mining and FMCG industries across India, Singapore, and Dubai. Parag joins Sterlite Power from Vedanta Group company, Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) – one of the world’s largest and India’s only integrated Zinc-Lead-Silver producer. As the Head of Business Transformation at HZL, Parag provided strategic leadership to the business for transformational initiatives, operational excellence, and profitable growth. He has previously served as the CFO for HZL Smelter and the Head of Corporate Finance overseeing FP&A, business planning and strategy for HZL. From 2017 to 2018, he led the Supply Chain Finance at P&G Arabian Peninsula and was also a part of the GCC VAT Transition. For his work in the field of financial leadership, Parag was named amongst the ‘Top 100 Great Managers 2022’ in The Great Manager Awards®.
